The Purge dvd cover

The Purge Official Trailer

The conventions of The Purge Trailer

  • One convention is the first green title on the screen which features in most movie trailers, this is here to show what audience is suited to the film and to make sure the viewer is the appropriate target for the film.
  • In this film it has titles to introduce some background information of the film to the audience.
  • In trailers there is a montage of clips from a film to not reveal too much to the audience but make them want to watch more.
  • In this trailer it shows an equilibrium at first where life is all normal.
  • It the shows a montage of the disturbing and sinster scenes in the film and how the characters react with it but never shows how they solve the problem because this makes the viewer want to watch the film more.
  • 32 seconds into the trailer there is another title which shows the producer of the film. In most cases there is a title to show the producers and distributors of that certain film.
  • At 1:34 It continues with a title to show you the other film the producer has created, this is so if the audience enjoyed these film they know it is made in a similar way and want to watch it.
  • At the very end the title of the film, is displayed clearly and in a bold font to make the audience remember the title of the film.
  • The background music in the trailer can be fasted paced and build suspension at times or be silent to show tension. Certain bit of dialogue are shown in the trailer to show people panicking and there reactions.

Evaluation Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?
My magazine readers are a mixture of both male and female readers, the age range of my readers is 16-25, an ideal reader would fit into the JICNAR scale C2DE which is generally students.  A stereotypical audience member for my magazine would be interested in fashion and have a sense of style that created an impression of their specific taste. A typical reader on ‘Noise’ would shopfor clothes at place such as Topshop/Topman, American Apparel, River Island, as these shops have a broad range of styles to pick from and clothes for different occasions. The type of house my reader would live in would mostly likely be student accomadation or house. In life ‘Noise’ readers look forward events such as festivals and gigs/concerts and having fun with the friends a clubs and pubs where they can socialise if they are old enough. A typical reader would spend their money on going out with friends and clothes and accessories for their own style. They would aspire to drive in order to go road trips and away with friends and most likely own an iphone. There are a range of ways people listen to music, spotify and itunes are a good places to store and create playlists to a certain taste, however soundcloud is used to find remixes and to listen to different versions.

I have interviewed two readers of ‘Noise’ and recorded them telling me their opinions. I asked them:

What do you think of the music magazine?Would you buy it? What do you think the strengths are or the areas for development? Would you recommend to friends?Does this magazine suit you?Does it meet your specific target audience?

Final Double Page Spread

Double Page Spread Process

1. First thing I did was create a new page with double the width of a single page and then put all the guidelines in place, this helps me with precision and makes sure everything is in the right place.

2. I then put a background picture in place as a base to put the article on however I changed the picture quite a lot.

3. Then I started putting the most important text in so I could get a feel for what the page would look like, I kerned the text to fit with in the guidelines.

4. After that I experimented with pictures to see what would look best and moved the text in different positions.

5. After getting the positioning precise, I needed to make my house style obvious in the double page spread so match the colours with the previous pages.

Final Frontcover

After posting a final front cover I felt it wasn't how I wanted it to be so I went back and improved it again, it took me quite a while to experiment with it.

Content Page Layout Structures.

These are Structures for my contents page, I can use these as an outline to create the best contents page.
