Skill and Techniques I have learnt

Skill and Techniques I have learnt

With completing the preliminary activity I have developed knowledge and understanding of different software.
Using blogger.com I have learnt a new way of displaying work and ideas and have developed knowledge on using a blog.
Also I have learnt about using the software Fireworks and what certain tools are used for, such as: kerning which is bring letters closer together and leding which brings lines closer together. I aswell have learnt how to create graphics and give them a professional on the software.

Contents Pages

These are my completed contents pages which have been developed from the structure. They follow the house style of the magazine so can be easily recognized. My final Contents page will be the larger second page as I think it shows more information and the layout is better.

Contents Structure and Layout

Contents Structure and Layout

These two contents structures are two of my simple layouts which I put together. The
heading is "Contents" for most contents pages to show what page they are on as a contents page is in most magazines. They both have a space for images to show information and relevance to some of the contents in magazine. There is also space for text - which is named text column as the text
on a contents page is used in columns.

This is another contents page layout but more developed as there is a more developed and designed heading more colour is used and the images are put in.

Pug Example

Pug Example

This is an example of a pug (otherwise called a starburst) which is used on the front cover of a magazine to promote something inside the magazine content. It stands out on the front of the magazine as it is in a different shape and has bold colours used in it. This example I made in fireworks using a range of tools they have.

Final Front Cover

I have chosen this cover as a final front cover as I think this one is simple but shows a good amount of information. I think readers will be about to engage well with the image and cover as it has a clear visual syntax. Also the cover have a pug with promotes content within the magazine which will pull the reader in.

Front cover examples

These covers are 3 examples that I could use for my actual front cover. They all include most of the essential features need for a front cover.
Masthead- The biggest font in a bright bold colour to draw the readers attention to it first,(start of visual syntax) it then show the name of the magazine.
Pug- This promotes something in the contents of the magazine and stands out with the circle.
Image- Close up image to engage reader and show expression.
Headline- Showing most significant content (second biggest font)
Cover lines- giving an insight to the readers of the content of the magazine
    Banner- Significant information about content

Pictures for the Magazine

These pictures are taken for the front cover of the magazine; they were planned to be taken in the school building and they are taken of students at the school so they have relevance to the magazine and contents. The shots are all close up/mid shots as this allows us to see expression and lets readers engage with the front cover. Having a close up shot lets the features of a front cover be positioned so we can still see the picture clearly.
